Cell Phone Users Now Must Beware of "SMishing"
11/5/09 -- Recently, cell phone users have started receiving text messages warning that their bank account or credit card will be charged or canceled unless they call a certain phone number or visit a certain website.

These messages are just the latest fraud attempts, similar to email and phone attempts that get you to turn over your bank information. So, do not call the number or visit the website they give you!

First Federal and its Visa provider currently do not offer a text message service, so any text you receive about your credit card or bank accounts will not be from us.

For more information on "smishing," see this article from Consumer Affairs or this post from security company McAfee.
