Malware Targeting Online Banking Users
3/4/09 -- First Federal has learned of a new form of malware that is targeting online banking users. Please note that this malware is directed at online banking sites in general, and not First Federal's site specifically.

This particular malware program is a trojan horse known by many names, including Bankpatch.C and Agent-IPS. Once installed on a victim's computer, it will pop up fake login screens in an attempt to steal usernames, passwords, and answers to security questions.

Again, First Federal is not being directly targeted by this piece of malware. Your personal information is still safe with us. To help keep it safe, keep your computer free of this trojan and other malware. Here's how:

  • Install antivirus software, keep it updated, and run virus scans regularly.
  • Keep your operating system (Windows, Mac) and applications up to date.
  • Don't open suspicious emails or email attachments.
  • Close all other browser windows when using Online Banking.
  • Exercise caution when a login screen looks different from what you're used to seeing.

If you feel your user ID, password, or other account information has been stolen, run a virus scan on your computer and contact First Federal immediately for further assistance.
